Corrections Basic Recruit |
| Course Description |
This 15-week program focuses on legal aspects, court systems, weapons, communication, interpersonal skills, correctional operations, emergency preparedness, defensive tactics, first responder training and the state examination review. Addditionally this program contains practical skills and field exercises including courtroom demeanor and testifying, report writing, collection and preservation of evidence, drug identification, radio communications, partol techinques, defensive tactics, firearms training, figerprinting, chemical agent application and first response.
This program will earn the applicant 28 semester hours toward an A.S. degree when successfully completed. |
| Prerequisite |
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age, a U.S. citizen and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must not have had a dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States or any felony convictions. Applicant must take the Basic Abilities Test and achieve required scores. Additionally, applicants must have a physical examination prior to program entry. See Recruit Application for further requirements. |
