Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Program (Full Time) |
| Course Description |
This 834 hour program focuses on legal aspects, court systems, weapons, communication, interpersonal skills, criminal investigations, patrol, emergency preparedness, defensive tactics, medical first responder training and the state examination review. Additionally this program contains practical skills and field exercises including courtroom demeanor and testifying, report writing, collection and preservation of evidence, drug identification, radio communications, patrol techniques, defensive tactics, firearms training, fingerprinting, chemical agent application, medical first responder and vehicle operations. This program can lead to earning the applicant 34 semester hours toward an A.S. degree when successfully completed. |
| Prerequisite |
Applicants must be at least 19 years of age, a U.S. citizen and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must not have had a dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States or any felony convictions. Applicant must take the Basic Abilities Test and achieve required scores. Additionally, applicants must have a physical examination prior to program entry. See Recruit Application for further requirements. |

To register for this training program please contact Law Enforcement Program Coordinator Bill Bierbaum at(850) 201-7992. *Rooms can be booked at the following rates: Pat Thomas dorms $23.00 per night, Pat Thomas rate at Howard Johnson $45.00 or Best Western $47.00 per night. *Meals: Monday - Friday 3 meals per day for $26.00 in the Pat Thomas Cafeteria. * Please make room and/or meal reservations at time of class registration. |
