DEFENSIVE TACTICS BUILDING

The old administration building at the Academy will be reprogrammed and converted into a state-of-the-art defensive tactics and physical conditioning facility by March 2006. When completed, the building will have three rooms dedicated to defensive tactics. The rooms will be 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 square feet in size with matted floors and walls as well as a drop down screen and ceiling mounted projection system to facilitate the use of technology during instruction. A strength conditioning room and an aerobic conditioning room located in the building will provide added opportunities for physical conditioning and rehabilitation of injuries. Shower facilities for men and women and lockers will also be available.

FIREARMS RANGES

Work continues on the creation of a 200-yard rifle range and new reactionary steel ranges. Scheduled for completion in mid 2006, the new complex will expand existing capabilities by offering a rifle range with three "lanes" of fire that include a Hollywood front in one lane. Additional positions will be added to the reactionary steel ranges designed by the legendary Bill Rogers as well as the head plate range making them more efficient for agency training. Finally, construction of a two-story, four-apartment tactical entry house will be finalized. This facility will be constructed in order to offer dynamic force-on-force training on-site.
